Goh Mei Qing offers excellent service as she heads the crew at Munchies. The Human Resource Manager talks about her experience at Munchies.
What strikes you first when you meet Goh Mei Qing is her bubbly personality. She puts you at ease almost effortlessly as she talks at length about her passion and work. Working at Munchie Monkey Café, a student-run café in the National University of Singapore, Goh strives for and delivers excellent service.
"I love the hospitality industry and the service line," said the 21-year-old human resource manager at Munchies. "Before working at Munchie Monkey, I was working at The Snoopy Place."
The experience she gained from The Snoopy Place enabled her to work with ease around Munchies. "Making customers happy puts a smile on my face too," she said.
"And I have a lot of fun working at the Munchie Monkey. In fact, it often doesn’t even seem like work at all."
The third-year science undergraduate at NUS has a love affair with statistics, but service in the food and beverage industry is where her heart lies.
"Although I’m majoring in statistics, I hope that I can do something related to hospitality and the F&B industry when I graduate. I love meeting and talking to people," she said laughingly.
Outside of work, Goh is every bit the typical young Singaporean, enjoying a spot of karaoke sessions and bobbing her head to the rhythm of Bon Jovi songs. But her drive to succeed puts her above the rest.
Speaking to a colleague who had the opportunity to work closely with her, it can be seen that Goh is diligent and serious about her work.
"I think that Mei Qing is a hardworking crew manager basically," said Liang Cai, the human resource executive at Munchies.
With a happy-go-lucky personality, the self-professed "workaholic" spends much of her free time outside of lectures and tutorials helping out at Munchies.
"Mei Qing is very amiable and she manages her work and studies very well. It is a joy to work with her," said Ng Khor See, a staff at Munchies.
"Working on campus is convenient as it cuts down on travelling time significantly. And when there are hours to spare between classes, Munchie Monkey is a great place to share a couple of laughs with the rest of the crew," Goh says.
"Most importantly, a good working environment means we have happy staff, which more often than not makes for happy customers."

we went for drinks at TCC first
since we had some time to spare

we then walked down to the esplanade!

watched this outdoor arab dance for a while. this guy was SPINNIN' for at least 15mins non-stop! GOSH.

& it was really GRAND
my god.

but i was lookin' forward more to sounds from the brass (horns, trumpets, trombones, tuba)
& of cos the percussion
the second piece was more excitin'
since there was more of the percussion
overall - impressive
the conductor, edo de waart is a really prominent man! wow
one funny thing - the applause at the end of the concert was soOoOoOoOo long!

worked at munchie monkey
for juz 2hrs of lunchtime!
kidda slack as expected
then joined the muggers at the science library again
didn't do much today
cos i left in the evenin' for a seminar on
"how you can be a pioneer in the IR industry"
at robinson centre
it's about a master programme offered
no harm listenin'!

 the room where it was conducted
i felt so underaged
haha
most of them were workin' adults?
well anyway
those places for the programme with macau were all taken up
& they only have a few more places for the ones with australia
sounds so prospective & interestin', hmmx
walked all the way down to esplanade to take a bus home
